VENEERS

Chipped or discolored teeth can tarnish your smile and lower your self-confidence. You can restore both with veneers: Thin, porcelain layers that cover your teeth and match their natural appearance. They can even improve your overall dental health! If you’re considering veneers, call or use the online scheduling tool today and set up a consultation with Dr. Steven Charng of UDental in Arcadia, California.

What are veneers?

Veneers are thin sheets made out of porcelain. They cover your natural teeth, giving you a gleaming white smile.

Veneers address several cosmetic issues, such as chipped, discolored, or crooked teeth, and they’re a less invasive option than braces or crowns.

These strong, resilient covers transform your smile without sacrificing function. Plus, the porcelain material is ideal for molding a custom fit for your teeth, as well as matching the shade of your natural teeth.

How do veneers work?

If you and Dr. Charng choose veneers, the process usually takes two appointments. At the first one, he starts by cleaning your teeth and removing a very thin layer of your enamel. That creates room for your veneers to fit snugly over your teeth. He then makes impressions of your teeth, which a dental lab uses to build your customized veneers.

At your second visit, Dr. Charng installs your veneers by carefully cementing the custom veneers over your teeth for an exact contour, and polishes off any excess material that accumulates during the procedure.

How do you care for veneers?

To properly care for veneers, you need to continue brushing at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day to maintain good oral health.

Porcelain veneers should never stain. However, if your teeth have a tendency to stain then it’s beneficial to limit your intake of foods and drinks that can stain them, such as coffee, dark teas, and red wine. At some point, you may need to see Dr. Charng so he can replace your veneers, but the better you take care of them, the longer they’ll last.

How long do veneers last?

Your veneers can last for up to 20 years, provided you take good care of them. To further ensure their longevity, Dr. Charng monitors how your veneers are holding up during in-office visits.
